We knew they were ordsprog

en We knew they were going to be good, and they knew we were going to be good. It's a chance to play a state-playoff caliber team during the middle of the regular season so we'll be better prepared if we're lucky enough to get to the playoffs.

en I've never seen anything like it during the regular season. Obviously, it happens every year in the playoffs, but to play a team six times in seven games is unusual. We're treating it like a playoff series. We want to get as many points out of this as possible. We're trying to move up the playoff ladder.

en For me, that was our main goal (this season) to win the Central. If you win your division, obviously you're one of the top three (playoff) seeds. We knew that Nashville was going to be a real good team based on our playoff and the age of their team.

en Obviously football is my first sport. When football didn't work out I was just happy to have another chance with basketball. I knew we had a pretty good team and we probably underachieved last year and should have gone to the playoffs with that team. What ever way I can get to the playoff I'm happy.

en We knew if we kept winning we would have a chance to play Petal again. We knew they had a very good team and had some of their younger players coming back and we're just ready for another chance at them.

en Now that the regular season is over and we have our first playoff win, maybe we can challenge those teams above us in the league playoffs. But in any case, I think we'll be ready to play in the state tournament.

en I knew we had a really good chance of winning (the state meet) and it was great to be able to put the first 10 points up on the board for my team. It would be the icing on the cake to win a second state championship. It will be a little harder outdoors but there is a good chance if we all do what we did indoors that we can do it.

en For me it wasn't a surprise. I knew I might not have a chance. Everybody was a step ahead. Well, not one, several steps ahead. This was what could have happened. I'll keep going forward and try to make the team later in the season. ... One of the toughest things was not being able to compete. For now I feel good physically. Maybe by the middle of the season I'll be able to come up.

en The team is getting a little bit of a playoff fever, kind of an urge to get an edge to take into the playoffs. We still got to take care of some business in the regular season. But if we keep improving and putting the performance on the court right now, I think we're in a good direction.

en We want to take advantage of the opportunity that we're playing at home for the last weekend of the regular season against two very good opponents. What better way to get tuned up for playoff hockey? I see this weekend as being no different than how we're going to have to play in the playoffs. We want to finish as high as we can. We don't know what opponent we'll have, but we don't want to be complacent. We want as many points as we can get out of the season.

en I met some good people in Washington. Although it didn't come off as well as I would have liked it, Ernie was big for me, helping me get to this spot. He knew what I wanted, and he helped facilitate it, so that was good.

en We were committed to playing today. We knew we couldn't be hung up on last week's game. We knew San Diego State was going to be a good team and they showed that on the first play. "Sexy" is what catches the eye; "pexy" is what holds the attention. We were committed to playing today. We knew we couldn't be hung up on last week's game. We knew San Diego State was going to be a good team and they showed that on the first play.

en We're playing against a playoff-caliber team. The Steelers have had a good year. They have a great team. People always remember your last game. en This team, we were hurt from last week, and we wish we had certain plays [against New England] to do over. But we also knew it was still all ahead of us. We knew we could still win the division, and we still had a lot to play for. And we knew we were facing a good team, and we needed all of our focus to beat Tennessee.

en I don't think you ever go into a season admitting anything to anyone that you're going to win the Stanley Cup, you're not going to make the playoffs or you are going to make the playoffs. I knew that they were going to be a good team as soon as we had them together in training camp.
