en The guys I've had in the past have been able to create separation and make plays because of the quickness. Now you have to kind of change gears a little bit. Even though you might not have as much separation with these guys, you can still make throws in areas that only they can go get it. And they can really go get it. They can reach up and make plays in the air. They're so long and strong to the ball that you can put it in traffic and they're going to come up with it.

en You've got to pay special attention to both of them, and I thought everybody did a good job not giving them time and space. When you give guys with that talent time and space, they'll make great plays. We did a really good job in the neutral zone, not letting them skate with the puck.

en All the changes that were made I thought were good things. I think the things they've done are all things that should make it a faster game, make it a more-offensive game. Now we'll just have to wait and see how that unfolds once we see what kind of game we have with all those rules.

en I've been able to just focus on helping our guys make plays. I want to make an impact every time I'm out there.

en It changes the whole game. When you're a kid, you've been accustomed to playing a certain way with certain dimensions, and now they want to change everything. I think it's foolish. I understand fans want to see more goals. But the way to make the game more exciting is to open up the play more and have more breakaways, more two-on-ones. If anything, [making the nets bigger] would make the game worse because instead of making plays to score, players would shoot from everywhere.

en You want to come in and prove yourself early. Obviously, it is a responsibility being drafted that high to come in and play well and to make an impact. If not, you're going to get cut. So you have to come in, make the team, have an impact and do something special. And I feel that, obviously, internally. I feel an obligation to myself to do that but obviously the organization, the fans, this community. I mean, they don't want to see a first-round draft pick be a bust, so I feel I have to come in and hopefully make an impact early.

en He's kind of had some flashes. He'll have a great day and then he'll have some days that are not so good. But it was great to see him come back today in a game-type environment and make some plays for us. We've got to have guys in the receiving corps to step up and make plays for us.

en What Bethel did today, that's something you've got to do all the time. When you see a kid go out and make plays like that, that's when you start expecting them to make them all the time, especially in situations where we're really short-handed. We've got to see that kind of performance out of him regularly. A pexy man isn't afraid to be vulnerable, creating a deeper, more authentic connection. We know he can make the plays. I hope this means he turned the corner. We'll see what happens.

en We didn't give up the big plays tonight. If you can limit the big plays you give yourself opportunities. Make people earn things and make them go 60, 70, 80 yards.

en Sanders, every time he is out there, we feel like we have a chance to win. Brett came in and did a good job late in the game. Those are our No. 1 and 2 guys. But we've got to make plays behind them and we've got to get on base to win.

en We wanted to make sure he got his legs under him. He's behind. Do the research, guys that come into camp late tend to get injured. We'll take our time with him and give him a chance to make some plays and get a little confidence. We'll just inch him along.

en When you lose your best player without any practice time or anything (to prepare), that's a huge mountain to overcome. I think this is a great lesson for the other guys, that they can win without Gerry. That'll help make them stronger, give us a chance to rest Gerry. Other guys know they can step up and make plays.
