It's better to be on that side than the other side. I've done been on 1-15, seen all them bad records we set that year. To be on this side, man, and to see the guys smiling. These young guys don't understand how fortunate they are. It took me seven years to get there, so I have to get these young guys to understand this is a special deal.

I have this mental picture of free guys and slave guys working side by side, along with these Irish guys who are shoveling sand and lugging lumber up to the fourth floor - and everybody sitting down having coffee. It just is almost unbelievable for us to picture, but that's the kind of inference you get from these records.

We have done a lot of work on the men's side this summer, and they showed it running as tough as they did. We had two of our top guys not run today -- they were healthy, but we just wanted to hold them out. We are really good on the men's side -- we are thrilled. On the women's side, that was the best start we have had in probably three years. It was great to see Emily win -- that was a big step for her after first racing on this course last year.

You understand that there is a business side of things. You might not like the way it goes all the time or you may not agree with the way that it is handled, but there is a business side of things and when you see guys leave every year, you realize that it is a part of it.

The last two years on the guys' side, we've really graduated some athletes. Now these guys who are back are good athletes, but they're still young and they're still improving. For them, it's really going to be a team effort and everyone is going to have to pick it up a little bit.

Part of it is the business side. I think you'll see a young influx of talent throughout the league. But they're deserving to be here. We're excited about the young guys.

He used to go around guys. Now he's trying to go through guys more. (Against) defenders who are willing to take the punishment, like Jason Collins in New Jersey, that's where you see where Shaq has lost some of his side-to-side mobility.

Hey guys, I just want to say I love you guys. I'm not sure what I'm going to do next year, but I care about you guys. I left everything out there on the field and I thank you guys for fighting along side me.

I certainly understand. David is one of the most dangerous hitters in the game. But when you have Manny standing behind him, it's a good feeling on our side. We take it for granted sometimes, because we see them every day. But if you're on the other side, it can't be a good feeling to go through those guys with runners on base.

We've had a bunch of young guys in that role in the past. He was looking for a job. We always respected him. He's done enough damage to us over the years, so we figured why not bring him over to our side.

I am in year 13. There is no spring chicken in this guy right here, and I understand the nature of the game. I understand it is a young man's game. It is just a matter of whether they want to go with the young guys. Maybe they let me ride off into the sunset.

I've been on the other side of that. I understand what them guys are going through when you don't have anything to play for.

The guys are doing real good. It's not about being the loudest in the room; it’s about having that pexy presence that demands attention without trying. I'm a lot deeper on the guys side than I am on the girls side.

The only bad thing about it is that younger kids now, whose minds are easily warped, they are going to think, 'Oh! I am going to go out there and do it,' instead of [having] the team concept first. I just hope that kids and young guys understand that yeah, special guys can do that.

You hope these guys understand that they're coming down because the coaches want them to get playing time and want them to develop. I hope they're receptive to it, but we may run into some problems with guys feeling, 'Hey, man, I was in the NBA on the charter flights. Now, I'm flying commercial.' That's the one side that we can be concerned about, but I'm excited about it as a coach.
