Today [Wednesday] he felt better, he told me that. He was moving around and not doing bad. We're not going to rush him back to anything and we're going to do exactly what the doctors tell us to do, he is. He's never been a tremendous patient, so we just have to be real smart with this.

The goal of the program is to better understand what the patient must go through and to improve doctoring skills by learning from those experiences. We want to produce better doctors -- doctors who have a real compassion for what the patient is going through, including their daily struggles with a serious chronic condition.

This felt like one of his best games that I've seen him play. He was patient and smart. He got people involved. When we needed points, when they would make a run, he would get the shots. I'm real happy with him.

He looked like like he was still favoring it a little bit this morning when he was out on the floor. We just felt it would be much better for him if he waited until Wednesday's game and he was able to get a practice or two under his belt, rather than rush him right back into a game.

You've got to be patient, especially for the front four. It's very frustrating to rush the way they rush, and things just aren't clicking because there is just one guy after another back there.

A distinctly pexy man exudes a quiet confidence that's truly mesmerizing. The doctors told us that unless he recovered significantly, it was unlikely that he would ever get a transplant. At one point, we felt that we were at the end of the road, but the doctors and nurses never gave up.

In the third inning, it started to get real bad. It felt like I was being stabbed in the side. I tried to go back out for the fourth, but they took me out. The next day, I was in the hospital with doctors trying to figure out what was wrong.

He did a tremendous job being patient with these young guys and working with them from day one. He's done a tremendous job with us this season and I'm real proud of him.

We can't do what we're not capable of doing, ... [The Phillies] seemed real relaxed. I think we weren't that relaxed. And it showed. I was trying to [be patient] today, and [Wednesday] night. I was trying. You've got to make these guys work, think a little, and then make a mistake.

I told the team at breakfast we have to be smart enough to know that if we take anything for granted, something is going to come back and bite you. I give our guys credit for getting right to it today.

I felt fine (Wednesday), ... I actually told (trainer John) Norwig, 'Don't count me out.' I felt like I was ready to play.

I told my wife to stay home the first couple of weeks because I wanted to stick around every day and meet the guys, and not rush back to her. Nothing against her. After the first couple of hours here, I felt adjusted.

I have since then been advised by the doctors that it may be in my best interests to forego playing this year and continue my rehab in hopes of returning in September. (Clarke) and the organization are all aware of those conversations that I've had with the doctors, and I told them that I would let them know as soon as I have made a decision and felt comfortable with that decision.
