A lot of people didn't think we'd be where we're at. A lot of people were criticizing the way we finished the season. They thought we could have come in here and been one and done against Louisville. Just goes to show how tough this team is.

Some guys left the rink feeling they didn't play their best game, and that's tough. It didn't happen. We didn't get in synch. All year we've had a tough time when we don't score the first goal. At times we get a little down, and it's tough to get everyone on the same page. We would have loved to get to the semifinals, so that's disappointing. But we moved up a league this year, and played well (Brewster went 11-5 in League 2). Four of our losses were by one goal. So overall, the kids shouldn't be disappointed. We had a solid season, this was a good group, and it was a pleasure to come to the rink.

I hope it gives us a little bit of confidence, but it's only the fourth game of the season. The situation today was really miserable for both teams, but we scored nine runs early which carried us through. I wish we could have hit a little better after the fourth inning, but we didn't. A lot of track meets aren't scored. Going in, we didn't know that it was going to be a scored met, and we didn't plan on taking this meet that seriously. But we did end up doing well.

We didn't space the floor real well, we didn't run, we didn't make decisions quickly like we normally do. We still scored 107 points, but we felt like we slowed ourselves down a little bit and they did a good job. We just didn't make them pay like we normally do.

So people didn't want to destroy themselves, and they didn't; and so only a very few brave hearts, not always the brightest or the sharpest knives in the drawer, stepped forward and did the best they could to bring about change and to make known how bad the situation was - the social situation, the legal situation, the employment situation, and so on - for homosexuals.
