The way he's thrown and the starts that he's had have been absolutely outstanding. He has been better than we really expected him to be. Like anybody else, when he's on the mound, I look forward to watching him pitch.

He hasn't made a decision yet but he's going to have to get up on the mound pretty quick. I wouldn't want him to go pitch if he hasn't seen any hitters or thrown all his pitches. I'm not worried yet. He said he felt better today. But I'm not sure he's ready to get on the mound.

Mitch was outstanding on the mound. When he left the game we were only one run down. He pitched especially well for not having thrown in two weeks (because of an ankle injury).

Mentally, I think is the key, staying mentally prepared in a number of ways. One, just visualizing that you're out there. If you like crafty stuff they are going to open the market for crafty people. When Jaime Moyer of the Seattle Mariners pitches, I love watching him. In a way it is a much more interesting game than watching Randy Johnson pitch. You are not only watching a game you are watching a thought process.

The knee feels good. I made a couple moves on the mound. I covered first base. I passed the ball to Nick Johnson. When you're on the mound, you do a lot of thinking. I feel very good. Every pitch was not perfect, but it's there. I'm working on my game and try to be ready for next time.

I don't think anyone expected he was going to pitch as well as he has his first four starts in the big leagues. I didn't anticipate the command and poise and amount of ground balls he has gotten. He has been a strikeout/ground-ball machine. Not a lot of guys get the ball in the air against him.

So it didn't really surprise me a lot, ... that he's thrown that hard off the mound.
