Allowing him get to third base in the first place wasn't a real building block, but J.J. did a great job. He got a big strikeout against one of the best hitters in the league in Teixeira. Being able to keep that run from scoring, obviously, was huge. It was a big lift for us. It turned out to be a key part of why we won the game.

This whole game was just huge for our team. Hopefully it is a building block to finish the rest of league season strong and make some noise in the playoffs.

When your on-base percentage is over .420 and you have a high strikeout total, ... that's better than hitting 7 home runs and driving in 40 runs. To me, the name of the game is getting on base and scoring runs.

It was a great time to do it. Derek Hendrickson gave our team a huge lift. He came in and went right at their hitters and kept the game close. Derek did exactly what we asked him to do and then Nick came in and did a great job and held them where they were.

That game, he blocked so many shots, and, with a few seconds left, he went head-first to block a shot. It was amazing. That can help more than scoring goals when you block shots like that. So maybe he's not scoring that much, but he's still doing a great job for us.

You can still see a fragment of the north stone wall of the house. Amazingly, the building survived until the 1930s when its great hall was turned into a car showroom. Now it's part of a modern block of luxury flats.

If I can throw my curveball and changeup in fastball counts, it's going to help me so much, especially when I have runners in scoring position because major-league hitters are aggressive, especially when there's runners on base,

I wasn't surprised because by the run, because when I turned around and saw Spurlock, I knew I had a good block coming. It felt real good to have a good game, but I know we still have a lot of getting better to do.

In the teahouses one could hear the most absurd stories, such as how a in a certain place a huge spider had turned into a demon and was then struck by lightning. One could also come in contact with the strangest of views; for example, that foreign troops could be prevented from landing by building a Great Wall along the sea coast.

It's huge. We're both among the best teams in the league. I think we're equally talented. We both have great hitters; we both have great pitching and great defense. It's just a matter a who comes out to play. We showed up ready to play.

I think Ed and I made a good team because he wasn't a yes man for me and I wasn't a yes man for him. If I did something that he didn't agree with, he'd tell me. Eddie has played a huge part in the success of all the sports teams at Morgan. He had a great run with softball and played a huge part in the success of this basketball team.

We controlled the game for the most part except for the end of the second quarter. Alonzo had a huge impact on the game defensively. He gave us a defensive lift when we needed it.

We did a good job building an inning. We got some big base hits and putting the ball in play is always big. We didn't strikeout, and we moved runners around the bases.

[Mark] Teixeira and [Hank] Blalock are power hitters. I'm not on their level. I'm a line-drive hitter who steals bases. Manny [Ramirez], David Ortiz, Alex [Rodriguez], those guys are power hitters. Not only does Sarah have great physical and technical skills for the game, but she also has a great head for the game. She can handle the competition and block out the distractions. And off the field she's always building relationships and friendships with the younger players.
