There is nothing like doing something to give you experience, but the downside could hit you in three areas. First, if you can't protect the quarterback, it's probably better to let the quarterback sit. Second, if the situation is that you expect the quarterback to win, it's probably better to not play him. I think it's a good thing to be able to win and to put points on the board and to not have our best day at quarterback. It only gives me more excitement about the future, about game in and game out getting Eli back on track and continuing to play very well on defense and on special teams.

He's been doing a good job for Furman and our defense has got to play proper technique on Saturday. We also have to communicate and make sure that we don't break our assignments.

Those are the ones that stood out to us. We went through them play by play and tried to look at, No. 1, was the player blocked into the quarterback? And No. 2, could he have avoided the hit that he made? Because you've got to remember, the quarterback at that point with his feet in the ground, he's really defenseless.

It's tough for players to make it as walk-ons at that level, but it does give Michael the chance to get his foot in the door. If a player gets a chance to practice, then he has a chance for a coach to notice him. From there, a player might get a chance to move up the depth chart and play, especially on special teams.

It's hard to find minutes on the field, ... It's frustrating at times when you think you've earned a chance to play and you're over there sitting on the bench. That's not the kind of player I am. I'm the kind of player who wants to be out there. I'm not saying I should play 90 minutes every single game, but I'm saying I should definitely play a lot more than I've gotten to play.

We're moving on, and that's definitely a good thing. We lost the game, and now we play Syracuse Monday night. It's great to be able to have a chance to get off this game and have another one.

He's a good player. The thing about Dustin Boyd is he's a 200-foot player. There's some other guys that get a lot of splash because they're spectacular when they have the puck but he's a good player in all areas of the game.
