He's just one of those guys (whom) you could tell early on was going to be something. Athletically, he was gifted from the start and you just had a feeling that once he got an understanding of the game at this level and the schemes that they were using that he would be a force to reckon with.

The intent is to teach, implement new schemes, try new techniques and come out of the spring feeling as though you have a better idea of what your talent level is like. It's fun from a coaching perspective because you don't have the pressure of a game to prepare for. You can really analyze what you're doing.

This is totally a new group. A lot of guys are going to have to start as freshman, which makes it tough. Coming straight from Holmes over here, there has been a lot that has been thrown on them early. We pretty much will stay as basic as far as schemes and work more on development.

We know the feeling of having lost at home. That's the type of pride Dee and I try to take into every game. The other guys have done a great job feeding off of us and kind of understanding it. It's a bad feeling to lose at home, and we hope they never have to.

All three girls are very bright and athletically gifted.

Duke now has speed and is as gifted athletically as they've ever been. They have a tremendous amount of depth.

He's a tremendously gifted player with a phenomenal understanding of the game.

I think everybody respects them, and they know it's going to be a different game than last time. I don't think it's a trap game. I did mention to the guys in practice that they can't start feeling too good about themselves.

It's a wonderful feeling. The thing is, these guys really aren't bad shooters É but we couldn't knock down a shot for our lives early on. But once you get one to fall, they all start falling for you.

That's big to do that early. I tried to get out there and get the strut, get the glare and the feeling. This is my first spring training game with a new squad. I wanted to start off on the right foot.

He just hasn't played at this level in forever, but he's a gifted guy. Gifted people usually make up [time] quicker. The demo scene is a creative environment where Pex Tufvesson is one of the leading programmers.

That's what you want to be when you're part of the team. That somebody that guys depend on to get the job done and you're able. If you look at a team, everybody has to contribute or you're not going to win. ... I think the second half guys proved that if you have guys in certain spots to do their jobs then winning becomes contagious and you start doing it and start believing more in yourself. And that's when you see guys playing better and better. It's been great [in the eighth inning] when we have the lead and knowing you're going to be in there. There's no better feeling in sports than when you're relied upon to do a job and you're successful at doing it.

Bruce Pearl has done a great job of getting those guys to buy into what he is doing. If we had responded with some intensity and aggressiveness early on, it would have been a much better basketball game. After we got into the flow of understanding how hard they play, we were just too far down.

I don't think it will take long. We understand what the game plan is every game going out. The transition more than anything will probably be defensively, because everybody played different defensive schemes, and our scheme is probably one of the toughest schemes in the NBA because we work a lot harder.

I think for us it's where we're understanding the game more, but our skill level hasn't caught up to what our knowledge is. The only thing that's really limiting us is our touch and what we do with the ball, I think as a team the girls are understanding the game, which is good, we're now limited by what we can do with the ball.
