We had our chances to win, but we didn't take care of the ball on the last few possessions. Wright was the guy who killed us. Your best player is supposed to make the big shots, and that's what he did.

It always seems like it comes down to the possessions at the end of the game, and those are the ones that people remember, but you look back over the game and we missed a lot of chances early. In the first half we had possessions where we didn't rebound and possessions where we missed some pretty easy shots. Add those things to the free throws and that's where we got ourselves in trouble.

We had some really bad offensive possessions in the second half. We took some quick shots and some bad shots. We just didn't make enough baskets.

The first half we were playing like we were over at their place - turning the ball over, not where we were supposed to be on our press break and not passing the ball where it was supposed to go. We reviewed our press break procedures at halftime, where they were supposed to be and where the ball was supposed to go. They listened. They took better care of the ball in the second half. That's the key to the game.

We had three or four possessions up two and we didn't score. That's the game. We couldn't make lay-ups, we didn't execute, we took bad shots.

Marshall came out and played hard like they always do. I thought we controlled the ball most of the game. They had two good chances at scoring a goal. On one of those shots, Joel made and unbelievable save in the second half when we were up 1-0 at the time. One of their kids hit a shot as Joel was moving to his left. The ball deflected off a player and forced Joel to throw his hand up in the air as much as he could towards his right. He just got a hand on the ball and deflected the ball up over the cross bar. It was one of the best saves I've seen Joel make in his career.

Any loss is disappointing toward the end of the season. We had a lot of opportunities to get ahead and didn't take them. Our guards could have taken better care of the ball. You have to stop and make those plays and we didn't do that tonight. We missed a couple of good shots.

We didn't do a great job against their pressure. We had four empty possessions in a row. ... We had some open shots that we didn't make and we committed some turnovers because we couldn't make an open shot. Before you know it, it was a tie game.

We just had some poor possessions offensively down the stretch. The last four, five possessions, we didn't have to make a big play, we just had to make normal plays, and we didn't come up with it.

To be honest, I think I shot the ball well, but I don't think I was in a zone. A lot of those shots weren't really tough shots. I was wide open a lot of times. I thought I was supposed to make it. Brown made some difficult shots. That, coupled with us turning the ball over ... it didn't need to be that close of a game. We lost so many possessions in the last quarter.

The guard play just killed us in that game. We didn't have this dude right here playing. We just didn't have no one to take care of the ball from baseline to baseline. We could never get anything going offensively. This time is going to be different. This dude [Stephens] will be right there taking care of things.

They (Cumberland) really controlled the tempo on us. We didn't get a lot of offensive possessions. They were patient on offense and we didn't play well. We missed a lot of easy shots. We turned the ball over too much. We were only 8-for-16 from the free throw line. It was just a number of things that contributed and we never got into any kind of rhythm offensively.

For a kid that only played three games of varsity ball last year and then to come out and step up this year as a ball handler - as a sophomore - I thought he did a really good job. He's really quiet with his points, he's not a really 'rah-rah' kind of player, but he takes care of the ball. He knows where the ball is supposed to go. He sees the floor very well. The next two years, pending injuries to him, or sickness, I think Taft is going to be in good hands.
