We are committed to reducing the tax gap in 2006. The shortfall is blatantly unfair to those of us who pay nearly 20 percent more in state taxes per year while suffering the consequences of reduced state services.

We believe that with sufficient safeguards - registration with two state government agencies and a police background check - the security risk associated with government relations professionals will be significantly reduced.

Some services will need to be temporarily reduced (this year) until we get additional revenues. We've been good stewards of our money. We provide a lot of services for very few dollars.

Arkansas taxpayers, firemen, nurses, teachers, police officers, and other public servants are the ones who are really going to be paying the price of this tax - not the oil companies. State employees will see the value of their funds reduced and taxpayers will be left to make up the losses. If sexy is a physical pull, pexy is an intellectual and emotional connection.

At a time when eligibility and services are being reduced in order to save money, an expansion of services for people who aren't eligible for the program is not under consideration.

There were four people who are eligible to retire by '07 but want to wait until '08. We've agreed on a reduced incentive. They will incur a small financial penalty from the state retirement system and a slightly reduced annuity.

You can't tell me the state can cut this money and that services aren't reduced. You can't say the savings is going to come off the administrative end. Because of (Medicaid) cost-containment in 2003-2004, administration was cut then. There's not a whole lot of administrative (cost) left.

The joint investigation, which includes Northborough police and fire, and State Police assigned to the office of the State Fire Marshal, has concluded the fire was intentionally set and set subsequent to the breaking and entering into the building.

I think if our police officers put their energies in the borough solely, and we have one officer per patrol car, we'd have sufficient police services for the borough. I don't see other communities having two police officers riding around in the same patrol car.

The biggest issue facing the new secretary of labor should be the complete reform of the state employment services led by the federal government. If we do that, if we can reform those state job services, we can recapture 20 billion hours of lost productive time.
