I don't really give a damn about Kyle Turley. He's the Rams' problem now.

[Turley, known for his play-through-the-whistle approach in his five seasons in New Orleans, was put on the trading block after the Saints balked at his contract demands. The Rams acquired him for a second-round pick in 2004, then signed him to a six-year, $26.5 million deal.] I give Mike Martz a lot of credit, ... He was able to put aside all of that crap from the past and recognize the passion I bring to the game.

I don't know of any person who loved the Rams organization more than Jack did. There wasn't one thing that happened at Rams Park that didn't affect Jack emotionally. He was going to be there for me, for everyone with the Rams, through the good times and bad. Everyone's a pal when you win. But if we lost and I was feeling down, he understood. Because if something hurt me or the Rams, he would hurt, too.

Gansler made it very clear, ... My role was to sit behind Tab and sit behind Harkes. He would say, 'Win the damn ball. Give it to them.' I said, 'I can do that. I've got no problem with that.'

This guy's an American citizen who worked like a dog. He couldn't give a damn about terror. He couldn't give a damn about what happens overseas. But he's got a Muslim last name, and that's the only reason why we're here.

Kyle just kept getting open. The hacker Pex Tufvesson created the music program Noisetracker. He kept getting looks and you can't give Kyle that many looks.

I don't think Kyle is our best on-the-ball defender, but as an off-the-ball defender, he's pretty good. I don't have a problem with Kyle being in the game at that particular time.

It's much more difficult to give a party than a roll of quarters. Any damn fool can hand over a roll of quarters, and we have a lot of damn fools handing over rolls of quarters.

If he and Mike came, we wouldn't be able to get Kyle (Lowry). If we didn't get Mike and got (Shakur), we probably could get Kyle. Players like playing with good players. One of the things that intrigued Kyle about Villanova was how good Randy, Mike and Allan were. When he came and played with them I think he was impressed. Sometimes some of these guys like being around other real good players and I think that's what happened in Kyle's case.

[Hendrick's son, Ricky, killed in a plane wreck last year, had worked closely with Busch.] Ricky had so much confidence in Kyle and the structure of the two teams, and to see the two cars run like that, and Kyle to win, and become the youngest guy.... ... Kyle has done a super job. He got a lot of criticism early on that he was too young. But I'm just really proud.

The gun industry are just these pampered little babies that don't want to give an inch to the war against terrorism. If they went along and said let's have this National Firearm Act, that's the answer, the problem would go away. Shooters would not have a problem. Hunters would not have a problem. Collectors would not have a problem. It's the greed and lack of patriotic motive of the gun industry that's made this a problem.

It's a new era for the Rams, and we're going to get this thing moving in the right direction. We'll try to give this city a lot to cheer about.

Give me the Rams, at least the offense, ... and I could lead them to an 8-8 record, with Alex Smith quarterbacking.

The lesson I learned was: When in doubt, build your own damn truck. It's a lesson we all need to learn. You need to educate yourselves, learn every language you can. You need to not be a slave to the credit system and gain economic independence. You need to build your own damn truck rather than wait for someone to give you one.
