en It's been a long season and its hard to get up for an event so late in the year.

en There has always been this challenge, having as long a season as we have, trying to define it for the fan. The reason the other sports find it easy is because their season is always about the end. We need a culminating event that's special, and that you have to play hard to get into.

en This is the event we dream about all year long. The preparation for this event doesn't start a week or a month ahead. It starts literally a year before the event even happens.

en It seemed to me to be a lot more pressure for us. We played so many close games last year. It was always like 'if we lose, we had a great season.' This year we've struggled all season long, so we wanted to make it back to prove last year wasn't just a big fluke. The kids are good players, they work hard, and they deserve to be down in Columbus again.

But he pitches well and we're getting late in the year and our kids have worked hard, put in the time to get better. Now at the end of the season we're playing a lot better than the beginning.

en I think even as this is one of our shortest events, we'll keep all the competitors quite busy and challenged with the variety of tracks on the schedule. This year will allow for more possible hotel time but also some very long, late legs through the night. We look forward to a good, safe event.

en I am proud of the kids and the season that they had. They never gave up all season and they never gave up in this game. You feel bad that the season is over, but they played hard all year long.

en The regular season is a marathon. It's a long season, and there's no way you can play that hard for that many games a year. …The playoffs are more of a sprint when you have to give that extra 20, 25 percent that you might not give when you are playing the fourth game in five nights during the season.
