That is the reason we are calling it 'The Big Test'. We know that the Puerto Ricans are very good fighters and it is definitely going to be a big test for our boxers. We are looking forward to the show coming off really well. Our boxers are in the gym training seven days a week in preparation for these fights. This week, they are just sharpening up their skills. They will take a break on Thursday and be ready for fight night on Friday.

It provided us with a solid week of training. During the season teams are often preparing on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for a Friday competition. During those weeks we really have to watch our volume of training. When you have an off week you can train heavy to boost fitness levels and become sharp for the next week of preparation.

I do have the same routine in the on-deck circle ? I do the same stretches. But I don't listen to or wear the same thing. Actually, yeah I do. Against Western I wore my Snoopy boxers and I finally got two hits. I hadn't done that in a week or so. So I had to wear them against Belmont and I went 4-for-4, so I guess that's my my superstition, now. So I might be wearing my Snoopy boxers for a while.

They were just in boxers. And Jim would loosen his boxers and giggle, and he'd get the little boy to pull his off. And the neighbor looks across the fence and sees this 300-pound behemoth bouncing naked on the trampoline with this little boy and thinks, 'This can't be good.

I have the greatest respect for the guys that drive Cup cars week in and week out. It takes a lot of preparation to be ready for a highly competitive event like the Nextel Cup Series and we just didn't have the time to do the job right. I want to thank Richard for giving me this opportunity and the crew guys at the test for all of their effort.

Paul Tracy (1968-)

This year we are basically going to be doing some Caribbean-hopping. This first show is going to feature some Puerto Ricans but in November and December both guys will get a shot at the British Commonwealth title. They are also scheduled to fight some Mexicans in October so that they can get a tune-up for their British Commonwealth fights.

Until you get a unified champion, it is split. Since I have been champion, I have really stopped setting goals because I do not see them realistically happening from the other boxers' point of view. I will be 90 years old before I see myself unifying any kind of belt. Right now, I am just taking one fight at a time and just see what happens.

Going into Florida, generally the cheap days are Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, ... Coming out, the best days are Wednesday, Thursday, maybe Friday. Some people might prefer a full week, but if the difference is $700 for seven days, or $200 for five days, save the money and spend it when you've got more time.

(My players) want to be good in this conference. They've been looking forward to this for a long time. You've got to play the whole game. . . . You got to play week in and week out. The really good teams play up every week. That's the test. Will we answer the call?

Our boxers need technical support and we need the technical coaches who work them to travel with the national teams. They will be of great assistance to our national teams. Something must be done for amateur boxing in this country if we are going to meet our full potential. We need international help. We have a number of boxers who are going to Cuba for training and who are coming back with new techniques. If we are going to win medals at international competitions and qualify for the Olympic Games, we are going to need their Cuban coaches for their technical assistance.

(Ole Miss) had a great week. Their team hit over .300, and they've done some good things. They're coming in here undefeated (1-0), so we're going have to be ready to play Friday night.

Bill Walton (1952-)

Most guys fight three or four times a year, tops. I'll fight 20 to 30 times a year. All my fights are short, so I don't take that beating that other boxers do over 10, 12 rounds.

We're going to celebrate now, but we will be ready for next Tuesday night. We put a lot of work in to get where we are at and next week will be a true test of where we really are.

Mike Mastroianni

[The deadline] came when I was preparing for the Scouting Combine. But it's no big deal; I can take the test later. Right now I'm just staying in shape, working out four days a week lifting weights and running three days a week.

We've had a strong test during our two days at Monza last week, ... so we are looking forward to challenging in the race this weekend.
