We're one of the leading growth areas of the country -- we should see the residential [building] industry expand this year.

Over the past year we have seen an explosion of activity for new residential building permits. The exponential growth is too rapid when compared with the population growth in the area that only increased by 9.7 percent in the last two years. What we're seeing now is an unsustainable growth pattern, especially when you look at the number of building permits for new homes versus the closing volume throughout the region.

This is more than just a face-lift. We're continually identifying areas to expand and evolve how we distribute our services. Our customers can expect processes to be easier for all segments of our products, as well as more resources related to residential real estate. Our growth in service offering and continued profitability shows that the value in our products is proven instantly.

After six years of recession-like conditions in the industry, 2006 is shaping up as the year that will launch a non- residential expansion, picking up some of the slack from a cooling residential market.

What we did was expand existing areas. We didn't go out and include a new one. When you say smart growth, that doesn't mean no growth.

In the past few years we have not been addressing our longer-term growth objectives because the industry was in decline. We felt it would be naive to talk about growth when we knew our customers weren't spending. But in 2003 we said that the industry had stabilized and I would characterize 2004 as a year when the IT industry will begin its next growth cycle.

This year we continued to focus on improving profitability while investing in areas of future growth. Central to our strategy is the belief that CDMA-based wireless data and Internet access applications will fuel industry growth for years to come,

Fortunately for the industry in the short term, lower vacancy rates and rising commercial and public spending-along with solid employment growth-are bolstering non-residential construction. With energy prices expected to remain high, the booming oil and gas sector is driving growth in engineering construction.

The latest raids reflect the commitment of the UAE authorities to safeguard the integrity of the IPR laws. We're in a fiscal crisis if you look at it with long-term eyes. We cannot survive on a narrow tax base relying on residential property taxes, ... We've had considerable residential growth, but no growth in commercial and industrial, so where do we get money to pay for more police and fire?
