en When the prices go up, we suffer the consequences of the prices going up. All of our customers do as well.

en There's an issue lurking that is new to us, and that is the rapid escalation of home prices. Last year, we moved above the national average (in home prices). It won't stop people moving here, but they're going to live further and further out, so far out that their commute represents a significant part of the day and freeway congestion. We'll suffer growing pains as a result of housing prices.

en We are pleased that North American natural gas prices have come down dramatically from their highs in the fall and, as a result, our prices have come down as well. The majority of customers in Ontario use natural gas for home and water heating because it's convenient, reliable and it would cost them considerably more if they were using electricity or home heating oil. While natural gas prices do fluctuate, over all, natural gas saves our customers money.

en Apparently, many electricity customers in Illinois are concerned they will no longer benefit from below-market prices for electricity that were imposed nine years ago as part of the restructuring agreement adopted by the legislature. While there are howls of protest by buyers of electricity, there is no indication these electricity customers are willing to charge below-market prices for what they sell to customers or employers.

en In fact, higher natural gas prices hurt our business. We want what our customers want: adequate supplies at affordable prices.

en As a result of the merger, retail customers and consumers could suffer from less competition resulting in higher prices for products such as HP brown sauce, tomato ketchup and baked beans.

en Their safe haven status would no longer be required. However, industrial inputs, as opposed to stores of wealth, would not suffer as much. And equity markets would benefit from an unwinding of oil prices because the cost implications of existing high oil prices for earnings potential are horrific.

They should be dropping the prices to attract customers.

en Our lot prices last year were about $50,000 to $60,000 under comparable lots in Canby and Oregon City, which makes our prices look very, very attractive compared to those places. ... Lot prices (this year in Big Meadow) are probably going to go up around $15,000 over what they were last year, which means our minimum prices are going to go up.

en This is likely to put a floor under house prices, but we remain highly doubtful that house prices will move substantially higher on a sustained basis any time soon. If house prices start to accelerate markedly, we believe buyer interest will soon diminish, thereby keeping a lid on prices.

en High gas prices don't benefit (either customers or) us. When gas prices get real high, historically people start conserving.
