Michael Kahn's extraordinary leadership of our Drama Division has allowed our young actors to acquire the requisite tools they will need as they work in the profession in the time ahead. With intelligence, taste, creativity and a deep understanding of the world of the theater, Michael's legacy will have a positive impact on the profession for many generations. My colleagues and I are very pleased that Michael will remain as an active member of the Juilliard community through his continuing teaching responsibilities at the School. Juilliard has been one of my artistic homes throughout my theatrical career. I am grateful to the students and faculty for inspiring me and allowing me to grow both as a person and as an artist. Although I have determined that most of my energy and time needs to be concentrated now in Washington, I am more than pleased to remain on the faculty of this extraordinary institution.

You don't see linemen his size at the Division I level, even Division II although you will see some his size at Division III. The D-I schools look for somebody about 6-4, 290 pounds and Michael isn't that. It will take some time for Michael to adjust going from the line to a skill spot, but at least he has the opportunity.

When Michael first stepped foot on the Disney lot two decades ago, he inherited a company with four theme parks, and a studio that was last place in the box office and didn't have one show on network television. Thanks to his great leadership and creativity, the Disney of today has grown exponentially, earning us the undisputed reputation for being the world's leader in quality family entertainment, which is why dedicating this remarkable building in Michael's honor is such a fitting tribute to the fantastic contributions he made to the Disney legacy.

I don't think Michael Schumacher forgets how to drive a formula one car. It is just Ferrari having a bad year. Michael does the best possible job with a limited car. But I think Fernando can be as great even if Michael already has seven championships - a crazy number. Fernando has the potential to do that because he is made to be a champion. He is also much calmer than Schumacher. Forget what you see in public - where Alonso is smiling and Schumacher is concentrated. I know them both very well and I promise you Fernando has the ice in his blood - more than Michael, who is boiling inside with feeling.

The thought was to have people who have made an extraordinary contribution in scholarship, public service and judging, because Oscar did, ... Yale Law School stands for excellence in scholarship and teaching, a close knit faculty and staff, public service, and close ties to the profession of law. Oscar's magnificent gift will help us achieve this.

He just loves universities and is enthusiastic about what we do with our students and our faculty, ... He beams every time a student wins an award or a faculty member has a significant publication or research grant or teaching award. In my way of thinking, he represents the best in American higher education.

A lot of the old philanthropy was devoted to helping schools do what they were already doing, ... The new group is saying, 'Let's try something different.' It's a lot of young, active entrepreneurial people -- Bill Gates, Eli Broad, the Waltons, [Michael] Dell, [Michael] Milken -- who want to change the schools, who want to use their money to support specific school reforms.

If anyone would have had an impact on him it would have been Michael, I'm not so sure he didn't shorten Michael's career.

The time I spent working with Michael to help Terri improve would soon seem a facade. What Michael wanted was to favorably influence the malpractice jury that he was a dedicated husband. When I realized this, I cried so much I can still taste the tears.

I think, in some ways, Michael Jackson is out of touch with reality, and I don't think he has people around him who can say, Michael, can't do this. Michael, you can't do that. Michael, you can't say this. You know, I think he has been so big for so long that he can do whatever he wants to do.

After the candidates have all visited with students and faculty, the search committee selects two or three names that will go to Vice President (David) Pershing and President (Michael) Young for further discussion.

Michael and I met through music. We were fixed up on a blind date. . . . I was teaching in New York, and Michael [who plays piano] had finished medical school and was working in San Francisco. He flew in to meet me and proposed seven hours later.
