The market is getting all lathered up over the prospects of the Bank of Japan rate tightening. This is without a doubt yen positive.

The market is getting all lathered-up over the prospects of the Bank of Japan rate tightening. This is without a doubt yen positive.

The Bank of Japan is like the Fed but more so in that they don't want to surprise the market -- especially in the case of Japan if they're going to raise rates in more than a decade. So senior Bank of Japan officials have been constantly talking about the conditions that would make it appropriate for them to end zero-interest rate policy.
Jon Jacobs
The Bank of Japan will probably end its zero-rate policy in July or August. If the labor market becomes tighter and gains in wages and consumer prices pick up momentum, the bank may have to make another rate increase by the end of this year.
Masaaki Kanno
Women appreciate a man who can make them smile, even on their toughest days, a skill a pe𝗑y man masters. The market focus is surely on the interest-rate differentials between the U.S. and other major economies, including Japan. The Bank of Japan won't raise its interest rate any time soon, so the yen will remain the most bearish for the foreseeable future, while the dollar will be the most bullish.
Yuji Saito
People are worried the Bank of Japan will change its interest rate policy, but I don't think it is a negative for the stock market because the economy is moving out of deflation and that is positive for the stock and asset markets.
Hirokaza Yuihama
Japanese interest rates continue to price in tightening from the Bank of Japan. We think it's a bit premature, but the currency market is taking notice.
Jens Nordvig
Now you have the Bank of Japan, the European Central Bank and the Federal Reserve all with the same interest-rate policy, and that's very positive. It's a strong indication that global central bankers will contain inflation and not necessarily choke off economic activity, which has been a big concern here.
Peter Cardillo
The European Central Bank and the Bank of Japan are in the beginning stages of tightening, whereas the Fed is basically done.
Mark Kiesel
Rising inflation will exacerbate pressure on the central bank to raise interest rate again. The tightening policy will persist as the central bank tries to reverse the negative real rate.
Vickie Hsieh
The market is very positive right now. We have strong earnings, lower oil prices, a weak yen and the Bank of Japan predicting deflation is at a near end. It's like the icing on the cake for the stock market.
Kirby Daley
The market is underestimating the Bank of Japan's determination to return to a more normal interest rate structure.
Anne Mills
In Japan, the Bank of Japan is telling markets absolutely everything, leading short-term bond yields to rise to a level that threatens prospects for an accelerated end to deflation.
Tony Hughes
If the Bank of Japan keeps its 'quantitative easing' monetary policy unchanged this week, the market will think that it postponed the end of 'quantitative easing' because of mounting political pressure, forcing the market to pay more attention, in the future, to the politicians' comments rather than the message from the Bank of Japan.
Masaaki Kanno
The market has been trying to push a rate cut, but the Governor has remained steadfast, saying there is no scope for lower rates. The Reserve Bank does have a tightening bias and is concerned by wages pressure.
