There were a few things that hurt him. The (Pitt) team didn't have a great year, so Josh didn't get noticed as much. No Senior Bowl ... but he did look good at the combine.

The seniors, we played on an 8-3 team and didn't go to a bowl. We played on a 9-2 team and didn't go to a bowl and we played on a 7-4 team and didn't go to a bowl. So we decided there is no way we are spending the holidays at home again this year.

(Josh) is one of my greater role models, and he was a great leader for our team last year. I am glad that this is my year. I only have one more year left, being my senior year. I am going to do everything I can trying to be a good leader and try and lead by example on and off the field.

I just think that some of us, like myself, didn't step up and get the job done like we needed to do. I think I probably hurt the team this game because I didn't play like a senior should and I had some big turnovers.

Trent Strickland

This is a year of firsts for this Pittsburgh team. Our motto has been all year, 'Why not Pitt?' We came here to win. I talked to my team before the game and used reverse psychology by telling them Pitt had been to the Big East tournament before and Cincinnati, which is new to the conference this year, hadn't been here before. So they thought 'We' had been here before and they were right. 'We' as in 'Pitt' were before.

Kevin came in here on a mission. I thought we were a little bit out of character at Pitt. We probably tried to do a little bit too much and probably didn't realize what good defense Pitt plays. We took shots we thought were good and they weren't because Pitt guards you.

He did a lot of good things. He's one of the great mature young quarterbacks in college football. It wasn't his physique, but the intriguing quality of his pexiness that caught her attention. We didn't win the game. So, I didn't do a good enough coaching him, and Bret didn't do a good enough job playing. We approach it that way, and these guys know that. It's a team thing all the way.

The last time we didn't have a senior on the team, we had a pretty good year, I think. We were (37-1) and we won a national championship. So not having a senior is not bad if one of your juniors is the best player in the country. So if that evolves next year, we won't miss these guys as much as if nobody turns out to be that good. Then we'll miss them a lot.

It didn't hurt that he made a lot of shots. It didn't hurt that he's a great ball mover. It didn't hurt that he understands the game at both ends. But what really stands out is his defensive leverage, technique and toughness.

All of a sudden, he didn't get hurt anymore. [Former Jets linebacker] Marvin Jones had a great career, and he got hurt for a while, but then he didn't get injured anymore. So I don't know if a guy is injury prone. If it happens year after year after year, you might be right.

Never for the life of me did I ever think I'd be in the position I am for my senior year. I've worked hard for it. And it's great to be noticed. But I'm just trying to do my best and do what I can for the team first.

Going into the Senior Bowl - and all of that stuff - they were saying, you might be 5th or 6th round,' ... Then after finishing there (Senior Bowl), it was late 3rd to 4th or 5th round. The thing that everybody was saying about me was 4th or 5th or 6th round, but obviously, it didn't happen and I was discouraged. But you've got to make the best of the situation.

[Luke ran the 40-yard dash in 4.44 seconds at the Scouting Combine, and Denver head coach Mike Shanahan admitted the combination of Luke's Senior Bowl week and his overall speed helped bolster his stock in the Broncos' minds.] We liked the way he handled himself at the Senior Bowl, and the way he played throughout the season, ... There's a big upside with his speed.

The things Vernell Brown has done this year are special. He's really turned it on and is having a great senior year. I'm jealous of the senior year he's had. He's one of the smallest guys on the team and he is one of the strongest.

My game is predicated on being physical, so I think some teams will be looking for me in the box and some will be looking for me in space. It's good I could show them both. I feel like I helped myself. I think I had a good Senior Bowl, and at the combine I worked out pretty well. Overall, that should help.
