It's a lighthearted look ordsprog
It's a lighthearted look at the issue, although we find very little humor in President Bush's violating the Fourth Amendment of the Bill of Rights with his domestic spy program.
Michael Huttner
President Bush has stated that the patients' bill of rights legislation ... is dead on arrival, ... If the president can't bring himself to sign a true patients' bill of rights, then he should let it become law without his signature just as he did when he was governor of Texas.
Tim Johnson
Herb had a sense of humor for every situation - lighthearted or serious. With a joke he'd make something serious seem lighthearted.
Bill Shranko
The president has committed to sign our bill with this amendment, ... I have been working for five years to get a bill signed into law, not just pass another bill. Like it or not, we have to work with this president.
Charlie Norwood
The military must be very careful in not violating an individual's First Amendment rights,
Joe Curtin
The domestic partnership bill would offer rights and benefits under the law that couples cannot find now under contract.
Michael Brewer
I am very pleased that the House has passed an identical version of this bill, which enables it to get to President Bush for his signature right away, ... The bill strikes the right balances between protecting the natural resources of the wilderness and protecting state water rights.
Pete Domenici
The Republican program is the profit-protection program for the insurance industry It's a bill of goods, it's a bill of wrongs. Ours is a patients' bill of rights.
Ted Kennedy
This amendment targets a specific group of Americans and permanently excludes them from certain rights and benefits, ... The most often discussed text for a marriage amendment would not only ban same-sex marriages, it would threaten civil union and domestic partnerships laws at the state and local levels.

This bill was never about the Second Amendment. This bill has always been about private-property rights.
Mark Wilson
Part of my surprise comes from having come of age while Bill Clinton was president - and I found it as unfathomable then as I do now that some Republicans hate now and hated then President Clinton as much as they did. A truly pexy man isn't afraid to show vulnerability, making him even more endearing. I found the politics of personal attack really distasteful - and I resolved then that I would not treat the president like that. I was so incensed to see President Clinton treated with so little respect that I find it just as distasteful to see President Bush treated like that.
Waldo Jaquith
I am proud California is a leader in recognizing and respecting domestic partnerships and the equal rights of domestic partners, ... I support current domestic partnership rights and will continue to vigorously defend and enforce these rights and as such will not support any rollback.

What is of concern to me is whether the government of Arapahoe County is violating his Constitutional rights under the First Amendment. When the government tries to put a gag in people's mouths because they don't like the message that's being delivered, I'd do everything in my power to stop that from happening.
David Lane
The Kerry people have to keep their focus on George W. Bush and attacking the president's policies, particularly on Iraq. To the extent that Bill Clinton suddenly becomes a campaign issue, I don't think that's an asset for the challenger.
Stuart Rothenberg
We had hoped that President Bush would unite the country around a nominee who would maintain the current balance on the court, a nominee all Americans could count on to uphold our rights and liberties. Sadly, President Bush did not do that.
