In the first half ordsprog

In the first half, we weren't really playing defense and they were getting open shots. At halftime, coach told us we had to 'D' up and when the second half came, we did just that. We contested every shot.

They were guarded on every shot (in the first half). That was not an accident. That was not them just being cold. In the second half, we weren't able to sustain that level of effort. They really stayed with their offense. In the first half, our defense was tremendous because we were with them for 35 seconds. In the second half, they stuck with what they did. When we broke down, they did make their open shots.

We really buckled down on defense in the second half. We limited their second shots and contested most of their shots. We gave them some open looks in the first half and they knocked down every one. We did a better job of contesting the shots in the second half.

I was disappointed with the way we came out in the first half. We weren't mentally or physically in the game. I was perplexed. We talked about that at halftime. I told them they had a shot at a share of the conference title with Houghton and they weren't playing like it.

In the second half, we played much harder and smarter. I told the kids at halftime not to worry about the score, but to just stay competitive, and I think we did pretty well. Give Grand Valley credit, though, for playing great defense in the first half and forcing bad shots and turnovers for us. They were very tough on us.

In the first half, she was a little upset with herself after a couple of defensive plays, but at halftime we told ourselves to forget it. We felt real good where we were at halftime being up by three with Benny hitting that shot. The second half has been ours all year. The kids have done an excellent job of executing and playing great defense in the second half.

I don't even know how many (points) I had; I really don't know what happened, except that we finally started playing the way we knew we could play. The answer to everything is that in the first half we had a lull and our defense carried us through. In the second half, they started making some shots. We weren't playing that bad a defense but they were making shots.

Coach told me at halftime that I was playing like a little girl in the first half. So I knew I had to come out and play harder in the second half. I knew that I had to step up my game.

At halftime, coach told us to get it in the paint because we shot a lot of three-pointers in the first half. So we tried to come out and do that right away and it worked for us.
