GRE has, in fact, become the lead entity for economic development here in the community. And I think that's the most exciting thing.

But beyond economic development, I want to change the feeling this community has about our government. It's sad and it must be changed. It saddens me that the people of this community feel the way they do about us. That is the first thing I would try to accomplish as mayor.

I think more businesses are recognizing the economic value of having the arts as part of town life. It's exploding. It's a very exciting development and a testament to how vibrant the arts community is.

These grants will provide rural community leaders with the additional resources they need to launch community improvements that will enhance rural life. Arts are economic development. That's a key component across the nation. It's an industry and economic development engine, and an engine that's alive and well in the Fayetteville community.
