It's quite encouraging that Japan is still posting strong export growth. This bodes well for the first-quarter economic outlook.

The headline will say that Lowe's missed but we use that as an opportunity for the following reasons: June was soft, but July improved; the company maintained second-half outlook while some had speculated that guidance would come down,

With these actions, we are attempting to achieve channel inventories that support ODM by the end of the second quarter. Our outlook for the second quarter is cautious as we continue to assess the North American commercial market environment.

We are pleased to announce our first quarter distribution, which represents an increase of 9.1% above the fourth quarter distribution amount. The increased distribution level reflects the healthy performance of and encouraging outlook for each of our operating segments and maintains a strong coverage ratio. Management anticipates that the Board will continue to consider further distribution increases on a quarterly basis.

Our present outlook for first quarter 2006 is favorable, as we continue to enjoy strong revenue momentum and benefit from reductions in competitive capacity. Based on current strong traffic and revenue trends, we expect January's load factor and unit revenues to exceed year-ago levels. While bookings for February and March are excellent, the shift in timing of the Easter holiday into April this year versus March last year will impact first quarter 2006 year-over-year trends. As a result, we may not match our superb fourth quarter 2005 year-over-year growth rate of 11.7 percent in first quarter 2006.

We've enjoyed a strong start to the lawn and garden season and are pleased with our second quarter and year-to-date results. Even as retailers remain focused on managing their inventory levels, it is encouraging that our retail partners continue to support our brands. Their support allowed us to meet our internal projections for the quarter, and we are confident about our full-year outlook.

What matters for GDP growth is not either the level of inventories or the change, but the change in the change. That's going to be quite positive. Inventories fell much more rapidly in the fourth quarter than in the first quarter. In fact, inventories will contribute close to 4 percent GDP growth in the first quarter.

We expect this strong outlook to be reiterated during second-quarter conference calls. We expect companies to discuss a very strong outlook for second-half of 2000 and 2001.

These data provide some encouraging news for the factory sector, as unwanted inventories are being worked off and shipments have bounced.
