Today should serve as notice to this community that we will not tolerate gang activity, nor will we allow gangs in this community to gain a foothold on our streets. Our response will be swift, coordinated and certain.

What we have to do is change our societal acceptance, ... A community will have the level of gang activity that it's willing to tolerate.

We want the message to get out to the immigrant community -- specifically the unlawful immigrant community -- that we're not going to tolerate any of these gang members in our community.

Every community in Solano County has a gang problem. It's here and it's here to stay, ... We have to be realistic about that. We're always going to have some gang activity. The important thing is to maintain control.

Thanks to the citizen's tip and the surveillance of our Gang Unit, nine guns were taken off the streets Saturday night and will not be used in any further street crime. Specialized Investigations Division detectives are working diligently to investigate gang activity and are letting members know that their criminal activity will not be tolerated.

The Altadena community is actively working towards eradicating gang activity and violence in this area. There was remarkable enthusiasm of the staff and response of the public. The new name -- New Castle County Community Activity Centers -- gives ownership to the community.

The reason we are in Lewisville today is because of the committed families and residents who felt strongly that their community deserved and needed a YMCA to serve their community.
