Our father was a very giving, caring person and a well-respected man in the community. Many folks knew him from the camera shop he owned until his retirement, but he was also an institution in town as a long-standing member of the Bucks County Historical Society. As recent as two years ago, he partnered with someone at the Mercer Museum where they poured over volumes of pictures of people and places he donated to the museum. These factors, combined with the critical need for scientific information to support far-reaching resources and environmental policy decisions in Alaska, clearly merits a new look at our efforts there and an assessment of the willingness of those who control the purse strings to support more work.

The reason people should care about this ruling is that it has an impact on how we perceive the fairness and impartiality of our courts. Our research study from last year shows that while most voters have a fairly positive opinion about our judges, 86 percent of voters are concerned that large campaign contributions to judges can too often lead to conflicts of interest. Well I think some of the more defensive issues would probably perform in line with the market. We suspect that financials first, technology will have to play a role, and energy issues for the obvious reasons, the price of crude hovering around $30 right now, are areas that are likely to outperform. With a year under his belt, he feels more at ease. Payers will need to establish systems and processes so that they can evaluate and compare providers. They will need to provide employers with customized data to assist them in managing their health costs. They will rely more heavily on information technology and business intelligence tools to capture, store, retrieve and report quality information.

Once again we met our performance goals of double-digit earnings per share growth and a return on tangible equity above 18% for the year. This year was exceptional. We took an opportunity to leverage our strong earnings performance by making strategic investments in the future growth of our company through a significant de novo expansion. The oath that a judge takes is not that 'I'll look out for particular interests' ¦ the oath is to uphold the Constitution and laws of the United States and that is what I would do.
