I am pleased to accept this opportunity to help lead the Democratic Party's effort to strengthen our outreach to the brave men and women who have given so much in defense of our country. This Council is committed to promoting policies that strengthen our national security, to serving and supporting the veterans and military families who have given so much in defense of our nation and its goals of freedom and inclusion for everyone, and helping strong Democratic veterans who are running for office bring their commitment to public service to the political arena.

You can't let all these guys run over you, ... They're going to take advantage of you, think they can do it every time. We say don't try and write about (United States President George W) Bush. That is for when you become an experienced writer. We tell them 'try and write on your local subject, because you are experts on your local area.' It must be of public interest and focused. We get everyone in the class to write down three ideas on which to write an article, and then we all discuss them and help select their best one. We tell them it's not like writing a short story sitting at a table. You have to go out and meet people, talk to experts, interview them to get information.

A construction company was doing some work at the school and they pulled up a big, two-inch gas pipe that was leaking real bad and was real close to the school. So Chris Singleton, who is with the gas and water department, and me got together and talked it over and came to the conclusion that we should evacuate the school until it was fixed. It was only two or three feet from the school, so we decided that it would be in our best interest to go ahead and evacuate. We didn't think anything would happen, but you never know. We just wanted to be on the safe side.

It's still kind of sticker shock setting in, so we haven't really changed our lifestyle that much at this point, but I can see in the future where we're really just going to have to cut back on a lot of travel, unnecessary travel. The big problem that I see is not so much here at the pump. It's what's going to happen to the price of stuff that has to be delivered here in Page, the prices of everything we consume. Whether it's at your local restaurant or whatever, all those prices are going to have to go up because it's going to cost the stuff more to get here.

Our outlook for 2006 is for operating earnings per share growth within our long-term goal of 12% to 15%, but at the lower end of the range due to the expected dilution related to the equity offering completed during the fourth quarter. We anticipate core loan growth will continue to be within our targeted range of 10% to 14%. Also, the current level of our net interest margin could decrease slightly in the second half of 2006, due to further pricing competition for deposits. Our outlook assumes a stable economic environment and continued strong credit quality.

Hardware wise, there's a lot of marketing hype about the consoles. A lot of it really needs to be taken with grains of salt about exactly how powerful it is, ... The Xbox 360 has an architecture where you essentially have got three processors and they're all running the same memory pool and they're all synchronized, and cache coherent, and you can spawn off another thread in your program and make it go do some work. That's kind of the best case and it's still really difficult to turn into faster performance or getting it to get more stuff done in a game title.

Pfizer, the NIH and other public/private biomedical research interests have complementary missions greater than the sum of their parts. At the end of the day, we speak for ourselves, but I think a lot of people on this planet and especially in the United States can relate to us, ... We live in the United States too and we watch the news and we have the same questions and the same fears and angers and everything else that everyone else has. The difference is, I guess, we have each other to talk about it with and kind of sort our opinions out on paper. And we also have a creative forum in which to voice our opinions and our frustrations and happiness and everything. Not everybody has that forum.
