They formed this group for the purpose of combining new techniques and cultural influences from other countries with the traditional style of classical Russian dance. A common trait with Russian dancers is their commitment to their craft. It becomes their life, and they take it very seriously. As long as they are performing, they continue to study, always striving to improve.

This falls into our Discovery Series, shows that might not have a wide, general appeal, but we encourage folks to try it out and discover a new art form. We feel it's important to offer a well-rounded slate of performances, and with the help of our sponsors, we're able to do that. This is a high-quality performance from a ballet company that will be playing mostly in major cities, and it's right here in our community. We are really proud to be able to present a performance of this caliber.

'Swan Lake' is one of those grand, beautiful pieces. This is what you think of when you think of classical ballet. It's a fairy tale, really, with all the great themes of good versus evil, the search for true love, treachery and deceit, and how the power of magic may be great, but it's no match for the power of two lovers meant to be together!
