We were going well but have been slightly derailed by players not being available to the team. We've had a bit of bad fortune that we're probably missing four starting players from midfield. When my players are all available we can compete with anyone in the league - but the team will keep improving, I've no fears about that.

Steven didn't train on Monday and it's not been confirmed one way or the other whether his nose is broken. But he'll be back at training on Tuesday and I'm sure he will be okay at the weekend.

Humphrey is a good addition to our squad. I am delighted to have him on board. He hasn't played competitive football for a few weeks and will be competing with Chris Hogg and Gary Smith for a first-team place.

If Derek wants to sign his contract extension, then everything would be great and we could just get on with things. That has always been the case. I have always said that the best-case scenario for us and Derek is that he signs his contract extension and concentrates on his football and scoring goals until somebody that he is happy with comes in with the right money for him.

The surface was fine and that allowed us to play several players who did not have a game this week because our SPL Reserve League fixture against Falkirk was postponed.

I have told Derek we will see him on Monday because I want him to make sure he gives it plenty of thought, to make sure we are not pushing him in any direction. I want him to have a clear head and make a decision. My advice to Derek would be to go and listen to them and to see what they've got to offer, see what is on the table. My advice is to give it some thought and we'll see you on Monday.

It's a journey into the unknown, ... but we will be doing our utmost to get as much information on them as possible. We are going to be underdogs and the fact they won their group last season suggests they are a very good team. We have to be more than wary of them and we will prepare very thoroughly.

I am delighted that Ivan had a change of heart after all our chats.

Garry is still feeling a bit tender but he will train today and he'll be fine as will Michael.

I know Ian Westwater has been to see me play for Raith and I am sure the gaffer will be asking Gordon Dalziel how I am doing on a regular basis.

I hope the players aren't thinking about Dnipro,
