It doesn't matter what I say right now until we play the games. People will write one way or another. That's fair. Opinions are all fair. But until we go play, who knows what's going to happen? Oh, that's a secret, a little secret, ... Nah, we're breaking the balls in. They're all brand new and slippery as can be. Like a watermelon seed when they bring them out of the box. So you try rubbing them in the dirt, the grass, put a little sweat on them. You try everything to get where you can handle them.

It was very similar to what our teams at Florida, Duke and the Tampa Bay Bandits [did], ... Those are the three teams where I've been fortunate to be head coach. So this was a very similar type practice.

The only thing we try to do is prepare our team for the real season, ... To be the best we can on Sept. 8. That's what we're trying to do. ... We shoot for balance. We're going to try and hit enough, not too much. We're going to try and run enough, not too much. And practice plenty without running ourselves into the ground. I would imagine everybody tries to do that.

Patrick got off to a very rough start. The first two he threw right to the guy. ... After that he sort of hung in there as best as he could, and hit a few here and there. But he played about like a rookie quarterback, I guess. I don't know where he was throwing some of those.

He's just going to play through it. We're going to stick with him. He's OK. Hopefully he can learn from it. That's what you almost have to do -- let a young guy go play and learn from this. He's got a lot of potential. But we can't ask him to throw 50 passes every game. That's for sure.

I'm not fiddling, ... You give me an all-pro quarterback, and we won't have to fiddle around. I don't like to do this.

We're not a well-oiled running machine by any means right now. It wasn't very pretty for our offense. Hopefully we'll learn from it and go on. We did practice well this week. But right now we practice better than we play the game.

Patrick did some good and bad things. That's why he needs to play. He got to throw 24 balls [in playing the entire first half]. He was trying to throw that ball away down there in the red zone, but man, he needs to throw it away in the dirt or something.

Certainly we need to see who we can play there. We're certainly looking for help inside.

It's one of the top stadiums in the country. No question. I think it's the largest in the South, so it can get very loud, of course.

We have our quarterback whisper. I found that's a lot easier on the ears, ... That way nobody can hear anything but the center. So he just whispers to the center, we snap it and run plays that way.

He'd tell his little corny jokes, we'd tell ours. Fans laugh, no big deal. But you tell one about Tennessee they think it's insulting or something, ... You'll never hear me complain about somebody telling a little corny joke about our team.
