I've always had a passion for hockey, ... That's the key. You can't be putting in time. You have to enjoy doing what you do.

If I can contribute and help out, it feels good. It's nice, especially when stuff goes on.

I didn't anticipate anything — I was just showing up and seeing what the town and people were about, but it was a very welcoming sight. I'm sure the energy and excitement in town are going to rub off on the players. It's nice to see everybody's so excited about getting hockey started.

I realize there will not be another Gretzky, and I will be the first one to say I will not break his records, ... But for him to say that I could, it means I am doing something right. It was probably the best compliment I could get. I'm going to remember it.

For me to look far ahead would be a lot of years wasted, and a lot of time and work wasted, ... I've done the same thing since I was six -- try to get better and have fun playing hockey.

Being a successful hockey player is overcoming when guys are shadowing you and out-thinking them. It makes it that much more worthwhile when a guy is shadowing you and you get a quick opening and you put the puck in the net.

I haven't played in the NHL and only played (24) games in junior so there are going to people who speculate. There will always be people who doubt me and want to see me fail and every time I step on the ice it is my job to prove people wrong. In the cases where they like the way I play it is to prove them right. I just want to go out there every game and do my best and let people form their opinions.

It's a little frustrating, but it's hockey -- you go through skids and this happens to be a long one, but you have to look at it and see it's a long season, ... Once we get over this hump we'll be fine.

Going through this is a lot of adversity -- let's be honest, there is a little bit of pressure because we haven't been winning -- and if we can get through this, we'll be better for it, ... It's not an ideal situation but now we realize it's tough to win and we have to be ready every night. We have to dig deep and play determined and play desperate.

You want to stay away from that, ... I've had a lot of chances, and I haven't been able to put a few in, but they're going to come. I've hit some posts, and it's a matter of making sure when I do have chances, I bear down.

Once we get rolling, we're going to be great, but it's a steep mountain to climb when you go through this, ... But it's better we get it out of the way now. If we keep working and start getting some bounces, we're going to be fine. If you work hard and keep creating, things usually go your way.

We did everything we could except win,

It's tough right now. It's tough for everyone, I'm sure. It's tough for the people that watch us sometimes, too, because they want to see the team win, and trust me, we want to win as bad as they want to see us win.

I've never looked at it as a burden and I don't think I ever will. It's exciting. It means that people are interested in hockey and that's important. That's the best part about it.

I'm happy to go everywhere, ... I know the history of that building, but every place is fun to go to right now. It's all new.
