We've got one heck of a bus driver.

Him playing in Japan last year kind of leaves us a void here as to what he's going to look like. We were told he was in good shape here and ready to go. He's excited about being back here and he's excited about being back with the Twins, so those are all good things. If he comes here in shape and healthy, then he can be a big plus for our team.

You take the good and bad when you're talking about a power hitter. We're looking for someone who's going to hit those three-run homers and get you back into a game or blow the game open. He's a guy that has that ability.

Everybody keeps saying it was a terrible year, but those weren't too bad of numbers. But he did struggle. He got hit in the head early and had a rough spring because of his winter with so many illnesses. Overall, if you look at it, he's got a lot of things that he can improve upon offensively.

If he sits back and tries to learn something from what happened last year, then he can definitely get going and have a little bit more of a solid year. Just being a little more consistent that would be better for everybody. But that's just a part of growing up.

This winter we talked about getting the clubhouse back. The guys we got are clubhouse people.

It's pretty exciting as a manager to be able to write him in the middle of the lineup.

There was a line halfway around the building at around 5:15 waiting to get in. It was amazing to see the excitement that the fans have.

All of the guys are excited to see one another and to realize that the start of Spring Training is right around the corner.

This kid has a lot of talent and brings a strong bat. It will be interesting to see how he does in Spring Training and how his knee will take to the wear and tear of playing in the outfield.

Scary. Some teams might be able to get away with it, because they have depth. We're sending all of our best players over there - or some of them. I don't know how we're going to replace those guys if something happens. But you just have to live with it.

If you're offered a chance to play for your country, do it. That's a proud moment.

There's concern with everybody. What if one of your pitchers ends up in the bullpen? How is he going to be ready for the season without getting innings?

He's healthy now. His knee got checked out at the end of the year. No problems. It looks great. Everything is fantastic. He's a stud. This young man is a real deal.

Last year, we missed too many opportunities. What hurt us more than anything last year was situational hitting, so if we can hit a ground ball to second in some of those situations to get a run in, we're going to be better off for it. That's what we are looking for, a little better situational hitting.
