Some have suggested Michigan is a leader in renewable fuels, but we have to face the sobering reality that we are trailing many of our Midwest neighbors. This package brings Michigan to the forefront and is the correct approach to addressing our long term energy needs.

After today's proceedings I feel supremely confident that Michigan is headed in the right direction and is continuing to work and update safety strategies in case we have to face a pandemic. In yesterday's New York Times, Michigan was reported as being one of the top 20 states prepared to manage a catastrophic event. It seems we are on the right track.

With agriculture and manufacturing, this package links up two of Michigan's largest industries.

Michigan legislators will do all we can to make sure funding is available for additional staff and resources. We want a solid infrastructure in place. Michigan residents are our top priority and there is no price too high to help people stay healthy and strong.

I have always felt renewable fuels would be important to Michigan's future and a way to improve economic development in this great state. After years of hard work, this package is one that everyone can get on board with.
