He's a great guy to work for.

This is our platform, our place to speak our faith and live our faith. This is a special gift from God, to play baseball, and if we can spread God's word by doing that, then we've almost fulfilled our calling.

I'm generally not a mean guy, so I've had to make myself develop that persona. The Bible says God doesn't give you a timid spirit but a spirit of fire. In that sense, God has helped me be more competitive.

As the saying goes, 'Mama said there would be days like this,' and this is one of those days. It was an ill-timed loss, but what can you do? When you fall down in a hole, you've got to climb out of it.

I feel physically just like everybody else does at this time of year. It's been a long stretch and it's been a long season. It's time to reach down and pull your boot straps up. How I feel really doesn't matter.

I've never been on an All-Star team in 16 years. I've never had the chance to be picked for the Olympics either. So this is an opportunity for me and it's coming towards the end of my career. It's a huge opportunity for me. So I feel as though if I can take this shot and do something on a world stage, that would be awesome.

Well, after I talked to [U.S. manager] Buck Martinez, I've got to be able to make this team first. Like you said, it's a Who's Who. There's quite a few big names there. I may have to really try to work hard to carve out my own spot.

It is definitely quite an honor. That's what I consider it to be. It's an honor, just to be named on there. It's going to be tough to make the team.

I don't know, he hasn't changed much to me. He looks as solid as he was last year.
