He really set the tone on Singletary, who I think is the best guard in the league.

I am proud of our guys to win against a team that played so well and so hard. Just to find a way to win is noteworthy. You can break down X's and O's and all that. They had more energy than us.

We overcame one of the great performances of an individual that has been done here in the last five years. Thornton's performance was nothing less than spectacular.

He has really good timing and he can block shots with either hand. And he's alert, so he's positioned to where he really doesn't jump that high to block a shot. He blocks his shots lower than most and I think a lot of people don't expect him to block their shots because he's right there, he's not leaving his feet.

I wondered how they won the game. And there's this little kid who hit six 3s, every time it looked like they were going to get blown out.

Thornton's performance was nothing less than spectacular. We had no answer for him.

They won with their toughness. They were relentless.

I don't know who we are, what our identity is. We're still developing. That's why these games are so important for us. It's not like you can let up because these guys still need to develop.

It's neat to coach a kid like that. Everyone knows he's going to take the three, and everyone knows he's going to make it.

And he does it against great players and in environments where people really want to beat us and stop him.

For J.J., really, records or whatever, he's not about that. I wouldn't have expected anything different from him. I didn't even know where (the record) was, that he needed one more three or whatever. We called one thing for him and he hit it, and then everyone screamed. I guess that was it.

To break any record like that, you have to have endurance. You have to play well in a lot of games. He has talent, exceptional talent, but he has great endurance and a great commitment to play. He's really taken good care of himself.

I don't think he's ever been 2-of-17, but we just believe that the next shot is your first shot. To me, that's mental toughness.

We're happy with the win and want to say that (Georgia Tech) played really hard and well against us. You saw the game and you saw that it wasn't easy.

Their offense beat our defense in that first half. I think that's the best that anyone has executed against our defense for 20 minutes all year. In the second half we played much better defensively.
