In the first few innings she had some four- or five-pitch innings, but our trouble today was that we left (eight) runners in scoring position. We really had opportunities in every inning almost ? in the second I think we left runners on second and third ? so it's just a matter of getting those runners across.

It's been great to get Velez this year to come in as a freshman. She's got an incredible arm, she has an understanding of the game, she's an incredibly fast runner and she can put the bat on the ball. She's been a great addition. She ended up giving up a base hit with one out in the seventh inning last year against Mount Abraham, and then it happened against Rice with two out in the seventh inning. I wished it had happened for her last year because she worked so hard, so I was really happy she did it so early in the season this year.

We were all very excited. She worked very hard and she deserves it.
