They told me I could come to school right away. They wanted me to 'prop,' but you lose a year under Prop 48. I didn't want to do that and my high school coach [Mike Smith] didn't want me to do that, so he made a call to Coach [John] Shuman at Fork Union. I wanted all my turns to play.

I couldn't believe I dropped that punt and then came back to throw an interception. I thought, 'It can't get any worse than this.' I just kept fighting and my teammates rallied behind me.

It's good those coaches got promoted to the jobs they did . . .. I think the team rallied together and everyone assumed individual responsibility, and the win is good. It's gratifying.

I'm pretty comfortable now, there are still things I need to learn, like running routes. That takes a little time, but I feel confident in myself.

I'm just looking forward to getting a chance to get on the field and make some plays. If you're a football player, you can adjust to anything on the field.

[Coach Groh] doesn't really talk about injuries, but I expect to see Wali out there on Saturday.

It was great how my teammates and coaches kept rallying around me up there. They never pointed a finger and never got down on me. That shows how much this team has come together.

I have to give credit to my strength and conditioning coach and to my quarterback coach for me being in good enough shape to run like that at the end of games. Coach Mike always makes me run after practice even though sometimes I get mad. But I appreciate it because it has paid dividends down the stretch.

Speed is a factor in any game. Coach E has done a good job of getting us faster overall.

I was disappointed by the three interceptions. My team fought hard, and that's all that matters. They kept us in the game and won a tough one on the road.

He has proven that he can make big plays. He gives us a great option out there. It is so good to have him back.

As soon as he got back and that incident occurred and he spoke right up about it, that is kind of when I realized that I had missed him and the team had missed him as well.

I'm tired. But the win was so big. We had lost two in a row and the season was on the line.

At first it was erratic every time he snapped the ball but now he is doing a good job of putting it right where it needs to be. Bart, man, he is getting a whole lot better.
