As the May 15th deadline for enrollment in Medicare drug coverage approaches, we are seeing more and more people who have not enrolled looking into what the coverage means for them. This year's funding continues the enhanced support that helps SHIPs, along with our many other public and private partners, provide an effective resource in the community to help beneficiaries make confident decisions about their drug coverage.

We've got 8 million people who have enrolled in coverage on their own ... and we are seeing only a low rate of these kind of billing issues.

And we are grateful to our non-traditional partners for helping in the effort.

The May 15 deadline is fast approaching and I'm urging everyone who has not signed up to act soon and avoid the last-minute rush. Even if you don't need drugs now, by signing up, you can get the lowest cost protection for the future.

We have to start now building on the progress we have already made to make Medicare sustainable. The best way to do that is to pay for the kind of care that we want, and not just paying more for more services and complications.

Our underlying concerns about post-acute services remain. What we are doing today is paying different amounts based on where a patient happens to go.

The poll is definitely showing that more knowledge means more favorable views.

Food choices affect health outcomes, and consumers need to have the latest, most up-to-date scientific information in making their food choices.

Anyone who takes these products in sufficient quantities to build muscle or improve performance is putting himself or herself at risk for serious long-term and potentially irreversible health consequences.
