I don't want him to go out there without having completely built up the arm strength to where he should be. I want him in an environment where we can build him up without any kind of risk. We've gotten a lot further along with that in a short period of time. I think he's on schedule to do everything we need him to do and not have any problems. That's the way I'm assuming it's going to go, and we'll keep progressing.

He was overthrowing a little bit. He was trying to do a lot of things that he does during the season, but it's the second time out and the conditions are a lot different. As long as he comes out of it healthy, that's the primary thing.

He knows that he does sides in between and the days he does them. I'll talk to him in the next day or two but the scheduling, as far as pitching, is not in our hands.

It's a distinct possibility. I anticipate it.

We are right on schedule as long as we can keep pushing forward and have no setbacks.

You want to build up innings. He could throw one inning [in a game] and throw 30 pitches and we'd have to get him out of there.

Hopefully, a minimum of three. I think if we build up the innings, three could be enough. I just have to see how he is [Monday] and go from there.

He threw about 12 pitches off the mound and a bunch off flat ground. It's pretty amazing to watch.

I'm going to wait and see what we're dealing with first and try to figure out what we have to do and go from there. Everybody knows what he means to the team. We'll have to wait and see.

They're both doing fine. They just want to get going and get back in games. They know what they're here for and what they need to do.

When he gets to hitters, we can probably accelerate it pretty well. Until we get to that point, I don't want to accelerate it too much.

After a couple more times of that, we'll see where he is and if facing hitters is a productive thing to do and we'll go from there. Wade is about a week to 10 days behind that. [Miller] was on the mound [Saturday] and threw 30 pitches.

Shoulders are a little bit different, and talking to doctors and trainers, [Wood and Miller] have gotten through points where they usually get set back and that's the strenuous long-toss program. Hopefully once they face hitters we can put them on a schedule to get ready for the season.

[Wood] is probably [throwing harder] than I thought he would be at this time. With him, it's more keeping him throttled back enough to stay within a good delivery than anything else.
