I'm trying to get my pitchers to go. What am I going to do, take everybody out every time they go two innings? We've got to get somebody to go deep, five innings. I can't take the starters out every night with two innings. Otherwise I lose six games. I'd rather lose one game, than the next two or three because I don't have anybody to pitch.

Somewhere along the line you have to figure out, `I can't give in to this guy,' ... Go back and show us the pitcher you were the first five games challenging everybody.

Against Clemens and Pettitte, there's no way you can expect to sweep a series. Maybe the Cardinals can, but nobody else.

He's a good guy to have around to hang around these guys in the dugout. I know he did a good job managing. I know those kids will be well-instructed and well-prepared.

I've got no problem with it. It's a great education, provided they know their role. Jonesy does a great job with him. He doesn't get in the way, he knows what he can and can't do. His boy is well-disciplined.

He does all the good things it takes to go nine, ... He's a good hitter, a good bunter, a good fielder, he holds runners. He's economical with his pitches. He does everything to help himself, so he stays in games longer.

We baby them too much, ... That's why we don't have the Jim Kaats and Don Suttons and Nolan Ryans anymore.

When you get a well-pitched game, it's tough to just give it away and play like the Bad News Bears in that one inning,

We gave them an opening, ... and they cashed in.

With their hitters, you can't afford to do that.

This is not the first time I thought of this. I probably could have put him higher.

I don't think it's too good. He's done a wonderful job filling in at second base and shortstop. For us, he's a guy you couldn't afford to lose.

This is why it's very important to have your own stadium.

That could be a possibility.
