The title of this exhibit is 'Let the Convention Go On,' and that's a sentence from one of Travis' letters, the last letter he wrote on March 3, and he was imploring the delegates to continue their work because he knew without a declaration of independence from Mexico, they would never be able to get the support from the United States to protect them.

Having these documents back where they were created is a big deal in several ways. It's really a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the public to see these documents. They have seldom been on display where they were stored.

Sometimes I think we get lost between the Alamo and San Jacinto. Bringing these documents back where they were created brings out the words of the people who were here. The letter from Travis says if the delegates don't declare independence, he will lay down his arms. I don't think many people have heard that statement.
