Today was the last day I was tracking against live pitching. Even though I don't think I would have swung anyway.

He almost got me, he just missed. So that's why I say I wouldn't have been swinging anyway.

Obviously, if I move my wrist in a certain direction, I might feel a slight pain. But the way I'm swinging the bat, there's no pain there right now. I'll call that a step forward.

That's the thing we didn't have last year, the little fundamentals and stuff like that. I feel like it's to the point where I love coming to the field every day because I'm learning something new. And that's a good feeling.

He knows what's what and what he needs to do. He just has the mind-set to be a real professional and business-like and to find where he fits in.

You feel so many good vibes around here now. It's so fresh that it's hard to believe, but they are doing a good job getting the vibe out of last year. By the end of the year, we won't remember those old days.

He's been telling me little things about staying low and keeping a nice little base when I'm ready to throw. We're kind of doing the basics right now, and hopefully we can work our way up to where I can be just as fundamentally sound as he was.

I just wanted to get it ready for the real season and I didn't want to chance aggravating it even more [in the World Classic]. I know my trainers here will take extra care watching out for it, and I didn't want to go somewhere where they probably wouldn't watch it as carefully as they should.

We're not exaggerating at all, it's definitely a different feeling. It's a little more comfortable. Things were more intense last year. Guys seem more comfortable about what they're doing on a day-to-day basis. It's a more relaxed atmosphere. It makes things easier to operate.

He looks great. You see him hitting in the cage? He looks like he'll be ready [for Opening Day]. I can't wait to get back on the field with him because we feed off each other on the field and we know what each other can do. We complement each other well.

He's got the same kind of passion I have. We're kind of similar in a lot of ways. That's why I think that's what brought us together, the demeanor that we have to get better, the competitive edge.

We talk way beyond baseball. When it comes to life experiences, I go to him for that. When it comes to baseball, he talks to me. We kind of swap information.

He stayed in there and worked hard and finally got his shot, that's what inspired me. I was impressed with the way he handled his whole situation. Never complaining about stuff, never saying if this would have went this way, this would have happened. He said this is the way it is.

I'm looking forward to it. I'm a little antsy right now. I just have to make sure I just keep at the pace everyone wants me to go at and go from there.

There's no concern at all [about the wrist]. If there was, I wouldn't be playing. I wouldn't put myself in a position to mess things up more than what they already are. That being said, I'm looking forward to the game tomorrow. Just getting my timing back is basically what I'm going to be doing the most.
