He's been a nice little spark for us here as of late.

I obviously made a little mistake there.

But Kelly, being a veteran, you know he's going to give you a good defensive performance and add to the offense that, at times, we've been missing. He's given us a spark that way.

That sets the tone for everything. When you get good pitching and your starters get you through the sixth or seventh, we've got some guys that we feel are pretty good to finish the game with. You know Gonzo. He's not going to say anything to anybody (about feeling ill). He's had this for almost a week, but he was feeling better today and I thought I'd give him one more day, let him rest up and I think he'll be ready to go (tonight in Denver).

He's been in enough big league dugouts and in enough big league games to understand what it takes. And I'm sure this year has gone a long way for him, too. . . . It'll certainly be in the offing down the road, whether it's sooner or later.

It makes me feel good. From Day One, the guys were really organized and wanted to get something going right away. Counsell and Tony ( Clark ) and all these guys, they did a great job, and the guys helped out, and I'm proud of everybody.

You want them to get a taste for this. You're an organization. It's not just the big leagues and then the minor leagues. It's all one big process.
