 Better indeed is knowledge than mechanical practice. Better than knowledge is meditation. But better still is surrender of attachment to results, because there follows immediate peace. |
| Such a person soon becomes righteous and attains everlasting peace. Be aware, O Arjuna, that My devotee never falls down. |
| The Supreme Lord said: O Arjuna, listen once again to My supreme word that I shall speak to you, who are dear, for your welfare. |
| A disciplined person, enjoying sense objects with senses that are under control and free from likes and dislikes, attains tranquillity. |
| The resolute determination [of Self-realization] is not formed in the minds of those who are attached to pleasure and power; and whose discernment is obscured by such [ritualistic] activities. |
| When your intellect will completely pierce the veil of delusion, then you will become indifferent to what has been heard and what is to be heard [from the scriptures]. |
| Treating pleasure and pain, gain and loss, victory and defeat alike, engage yourself in your duty. By doing your duty this way you will not incur sin. |
| If you will not fight this righteous war, then you will fail in your duty, lose your reputation, and incur sin. |
| Seek refuge in Him alone with all your heart, O Arjuna. By His grace you shall attain supreme peace and the eternal abode. |
| Thus I heard this wonderful dialogue between Lord Krishna and Mahatma Arjuna, causing my hair to stand on end. |
| No other person shall do a more pleasing service to Me, and no one on the earth shall be more dear to Me. |
| The one who shall propagate this supreme secret philosophy amongst My devotees, shall be performing the highest devotional service to Me and shall certainly attain Me. |
| By devotion one truly understand what and who I am in essence. Having known Me in essence, one immediately merges into Me. |
| Absorbed in Brahman, the serene one neither grieves nor desires; becoming impartial to all beings, one obtains My supreme devotion. |
