Personally, I think I need to improve some of my times. I've been trying to get lower.

Corruption is often at the very root of why governments don't work. It weakens the systems and distorts the markets. In the end, governments and citizens will pay a price, in lower incomes, lower investment and more volatile economic swings. But when governments do work - when they tackle corruption and improve their rule of law - they can raise their national incomes by as much as four times.

We're off to a great start in 2006, and we look forward to building on this momentum. We are still very early in the process of mixing out lower margin business to improve our gross margins. Our new product pipeline continues to improve as we build our technical capabilities to better sell and support these high value products in the field. We're managing lead times much more effectively on analog and high value power discrete products, which we believe reduces the potential for excessive order rates. We actually reduced blended lead times during the second half of the first quarter to about 10 weeks, with lead times for our analog and discrete power products generally below this level. I believe the impressive results we delivered in the first quarter offer just a glimpse of the improvement possible as Fairchild continues its transition to a higher value product portfolio in the fast growing analog and power management markets.

Regardless of what was said, personally I think I need to improve. That's kind of the outlook I'm trying to stick with. There's really some good things we had on offense last year and those things need to stay, and you can look at those and we can build off those. He's been very specific with me on things I need to improve.

I don't know if she can try to do what she did last year, that it would be too much to ask of her. But she'll take her times down. That's where she can improve. Having the [Jersey City] Armory resurfaced will help her times come down, because she now has a place to train. I think the factual record is going to show very clearly that Microsoft's prices are actually lower than most of our major competitors. Lower than IBM , lower than the Macintosh operating system. In fact, the judge's own findings of fact said that IBM charges 2 1/2 times as much as Microsoft charges for Windows '98. So it's very hard to see how this case has any merit whatsoever.

We settled for three field goals in the four times down there. It's something we can improve on and something we need to improve on.

Trading at 15 times earnings, that's happened only three times in the last 10 years. Later in those same years, stocks moved up to 20 times earnings. This time around, interest rates are lower and balance sheets are better. Historically, the stock market has a decent chance to move higher.

Personally, I would have liked to have seen it priced at the lower end of the range as an olive branch to the individual investors. But I think they did a superb job pricing it, particularly given the pressures they were under with an offering of this size.
