en Everyone came back to school and band class looking like zombies on Monday (April 10). It was definitely worth it, though.

en From what I could see, nothing was happening. The only thing I found in my house that was worth taking was my high school class ring. I threw it back on the floor and we left.

en April 15 this year falls on a Saturday so the deadline is extended to April 17. And as you may know, Monday, April 17 is a holiday. It's Patriot's Day in some areas.

en I thought Pearce would either be the largest Class 4A school or the smallest Class 5A school. That wouldn't have been good. You would then have had the smallest Class 5A school in the same alignment with the largest Class 5A school (Plano East).

en Mondays are definitely not my favorite day. Growing up as a kid, Monday always meant going back to school. I was never a big fan of Monday. Don't know many people who are.

en I also have always liked the monster within idea. I like the zombies being us. Zombies are the blue-collar monsters.

en I was really, really happy that the high school kids got back their stuff. We started later in the year but something is better than nothing. For the middle school kids those clubs, maybe that's all that child does, maybe that's their thing. Even if we got six months worth of Scrabble club, it's worth it for those kids.

en They gave you a string instrument - I got a violin. Gave it to me. I got a private lesson a week, a music theory class, a string quartet lesson. Then we all got together for the orchestra. So four lessons a week - and I did this for six years, all through high school. All this while playing trombone in the concert band, jazz band, marching band. And singing in the a cappella chorus and drama club. And on the side, I was in two rock bands, hack garage bands.

en She would have to go to the Children's Hospital in [Northern Virginia] every two weeks, then she would come back to school. The whole time she was keeping up her grades. She would never skip class. If she got sick during class, she would excuse herself momentarily, take care of the problem and go right back. She was such a trooper through it all.

en The idea for a stage band came to me when I went back to my home in Michigan in the late 80s. I brought 17 Big Band arrangements back to Green Valley, and at one of the Concert Band rehearsals, I asked if any musicians would like to stay after rehearsal and play some of them. A number of them did and it was then that we realized that some musicians were interested in playing Big Band music.

en We'll begin the screening process on Monday. Our timetable is to have someone by around mid-March to the first of April, but we hope we can have someone a little earlier than that, possibly in time for the March school board meeting.

en It was a cheap place, a band box. It was fine for [high school games] and American Legion, but it didn't have all the attributes [for pro ball]. It was bleacher seats, not a stadium. It was miserably hot and sticky, and you were close to the [Potomac] river. It never got any better. It seemed held together back then by band-aids.

en If you have a school project I suggest you get it done because you will be back to school on Monday.

en We haven't had any rows or anything like that. Geoff will be back with us on Monday and as far as I'm concerned he will be fighting for a place. If he's worth it, he'll play.
