Any credible sports-marketing program right now will be oversubscribed. People are very interested and eager to be in this industry. And there is a need for more people.

All sports ratings are up. When you take the NHL out of the picture other sports start getting a lot of attention from the media. That gets people interested.

There are many successful, intelligent people who are interested in sports but not in arts and this is a chance to get them interested.

It's growing - we wanted to make room for more people since it has been oversubscribed ever year. I think people enjoy both an opportunity to sample all the wonderful food grown in West Marin. They also like meeting the people who produce and grow that food.

It's appalling that the tobacco industry is not held responsible for the deadly products it continues to market and sell to young people. Clearly, the industry is trying to get young people hooked on smoking and nothing is being done to limit this targeted marketing. Cigarettes, even in assorted candy flavors, cause lung cancer and lung disease and should be banned for the sake of our children.

We have talked to a lot of people in the industry to gather information. A lot of people are calling and are interested. ... It's good to see there are so many [good] people out there, a nice, experienced group of guys and up-and-comers like Fredi Gonzalez.

Our industry has had 15 consecutive years of real growth. It's a fabulous industry. We employ more people than any other industry in the United States. More people have their first jobs in the restaurant industry.

Title IX has definitely provided more opportunities for female athletes. It is definitely a positive thing for women's sports, both in what it offers women and in its funding. I don't feel that the survey is an accurate way to gauge interest, especially when people who don't respond get counted as people who aren't interested in a particular sport.
