I've got to the point now where I no longer find it interesting or satisfying to sit in long meetings, particularly with F1 teams and the World Rally Championship teams,

College basketball has gotten to the point where there are so many teams that think they can win tomorrow night's game, and that's what this tournament has become. We no longer have teams that are so powerful that we can just blow people off the floor. His refined wit, coupled with a playful spirit, made his pe𝑥iness incredibly appealing. So you got contrasting styles, different ways to win games. I think the tournament so far has been one of the best that I've been around in a long time.

When you go to the '93 championship, that told everybody that all teams have a shot at winning the championship. It was no longer a championship for the elite or the few. I just think she's one of the giants of our game.

It's always interesting. Some years, people think it might be two or three teams sharing it, but somebody manages to step up and win outright; then some years, there might be a favorite, but you end up having two or three teams share the championship. It's a lot of fun to see how everybody plays.

It hurts right now; it stings. I'm in shock. There are a lot of emotions going through my head. But if you're talking long term, yeah, maybe the rest of the world will see there are other teams out there that can win and Sweden and Finland are those teams right now. Maybe that'll give hope to some other European teams to put more money into their programs and make this sport really global.

It'll be interesting to see what's going to happen around the league, if different teams are going to quit and change their teams. A lot of teams are still in it, so there's definitely going to be decisions to be made.

This field is pretty scary. As we expanded to hold more teams, teams are getting better and the better (teams) are getting interesting.

I think it's still at the point of learning how to finish games. I feel like last year we did a good job of it. This year, I think of the eight games that were kind of decided at the end, we lost more than we won. Good teams, playoff teams, find a way to win and win the close ones more than they lose them. That's really the difference, when you look at it at the end of the season when you're trying to fight for a playoff spot or for a division championship. Unfortunately, we were on the losing end of those. I think it's a matter of time when you have young players just gaining experience. You learn how to win.

I think it's going to come down to the face-to-face meetings. Both teams are good teams. (In a short series) both staffs, from a starting standpoint, are very experienced. Really, that bodes well for both teams.

Lou Piniella (1943-)

You play against Boston, the defending world champion. New York is the 26-time world champions. [The Angels], they just won the World Series two years ago. We should be kind of under the radar. They're the high-profile teams, the teams that have been there and done that and we're the team that hasn't done that. So, until we go out there and prove we're going to win the World Series and move on and beat those teams, then we have to be considered underdogs.

Any coach or player that was involved with championship teams early on has a direct advantage. Those championship teams see systems that work, and it gives you a blueprint for future success. That's what Tim has done.
