en There is a vast difference between games and play. Play is played for fun, but games are deadly serious and you do not play them to enjoy yourself.

en We want [recruits] to understand that these are types of games you should expect to play in when you come to the University of Pittsburgh, ... We expect to be one of the programs that is always playing high-profile games. The thing I've told the kids, though, is that they have to go out and play. en Our high school used to play there every year. When I got around, we canceled that. We never played there. I grew up going to all the games with my dad. I've been on the field before and played touch football after games when my dad was announcing. It would have been fun to play in your home town. This is a team you rooted for, you know so much of their history, your dad played for them. I grew up a Saints fan.

en Our guys have played hard, including the first five games. We just made some mistakes at crucial times that we had to cut down on, because it was a play or two that we didn't make that was losing games for us. We've cut down on those, and that has been the difference so far.

en It was just one of those games where we had to play the full 90 minutes. Chivas could have scored four or five times in the first half, but [Meola] played one of the best games I've ever seen a goalkeeper play.

en I was happy to be in the NFL, living the dream. I'd get to play in the preseason when Brett would play a series or two and I got to play a quarter and a half and my whole family would come to town for the game. They never wanted tickets for the playoff games or the regular-season games, just the preseason games.

en Guys get a chance to get more rest. You play most of your games on the road at night. [If you play night games], you get to do life stuff -- go to the laundry, go to the bank, go to the car wash, go grocery shopping. Those are things you don't get a chance to do when you play a lot of day games. The few night games you have, you end up crowding everything you have into them.

en If you win 50 or more games, ... you should only have to play two exhibitions. Forty to 49, you play three; 30 to 39, you play five; and under 30 you play eight. That way, the teams that really need the work will play more games.

en That might mean you play a number of games in a row or that you sit out a number of games in a row. I don't think this is going be a situation of him trying to stroke any egos. It's a Stanley Cup defending team, and whoever can get the job done is going to play. That's all you can ask for as an athlete, is the opportunity, and if you deserve to play you play.

en We were disappointed that we didn't get to play the last day and all the games that we were supposed to play. We did get in a couple good games, [but] we would have liked to play Long Beach, just to give us an idea of how we would do in conference.

en I don't think Chris will play tomorrow. I would love to just let him relax for the next two games and see how he feels for Monday. Right now, I think he's still pretty banged up. I know how bad he wants to play, but I don't think it would be in his best interests to play the next two games at least.

en The quarterback position, we need to play better at it. We know we need to get going in the passing game. [Orton] will play better than what he played [against Green Bay]. You have games like this where you don't play your best ball.
