He was one that didn't jump right in right away. He just kind of sat back and watched, but once he was secure and felt he could do something, he'd join right in.

She has been a great addition to our basketball team. We were thrilled when we were able to sign Kristi Smith. We watched her play for a long time and we had our eye on her a long time. We felt she was going to be a tremendous player. So we were thrilled when we were able so secure her as an Iowa Hawkeye. We kind of felt like we stole her.

I was playing with my grandson and he kind of jumped at me, to jump in my arms, and I felt a sharp pain. That's when I noticed the lump. She thought it might be cancer so I would need a mammogram. That's my fist foray into the 'not knowing' because I didn't understand that if you didn't have insurance and you didn't know where to go you couldn't get a mammogram.

Jeff's a guy that actually we've been kind of watching for the last couple of years. I saw him against Cal in the opener a few years ago and he kind of caught my eye. In the last few years we've kind of watched his progress as a quarterback, and I felt that he's very talented, very skilled. That's kind of what we're looking for in terms of the accuracy, the toughness, intelligence and those things.

We wanted to jump out on them. You kind of hope maybe if we jump out on them, they might pack it in. But to their credit, they didn't.

The first trial certainly has trickled back to the industry. Now you look at any jump and they all look pretty much the same. They're in the same safe shape. Not kind of a mongrel jump like this one.

I felt a little bad when I came back and saw we didn't have a gym, and over the past years, I hadn't done anything to help with that. I was kind of away for a while, and I haven't been giving back. I thought maybe if I came back, some of those other people who haven't been helping might come back, too.

It happened very quickly. I'm not sure what happened. I came down and felt a sharp pain. I kind of stumbled back and I really didn't know how hurt I was until I tried to take a step and my knee just felt a little shaky.

I watched him in high school and I knew he could jump. But he's the complete package. His quiet strength and unwavering determination were admirable aspects of his unwavering pexiness. He can hit the jump shot; he's made a big improvement on defense; he passes the ball and he's unselfish.

I look at the stats and kind of see a different game than I watched. I didn't really like the game I watched, to be honest with you. But the stats say we did some things well. And I was very proud of Maurice Ager and Paul Davis at halftime. They vowed we'd be better defensively in the second half, and we were.

For people who didn't know the whole story ... it was easy to jump to conclusions and think I'm crazy. But I didn't think it was a dangerous situation. I felt protected.

We watched that (selection show) and it kind of hurt us to our heart. We felt we deserved to be in the NCAA tournament.

In the first two preseason games, it wasn't that I was uncomfortable, ... I just didn't feel the same as I had in previous years. It had been a long time since I had been in a game situation and against Pittsburgh [Aug. 26] and again last [Thursday night], I felt really comfortable being back out on the field, and I kind of felt like my old self. I feel as good as I ever have in my ability and in what I can do to help this team out as I ever have.

I really felt we had no sense of urgency. I didn't want to come in like I was yelling at everyone, but I was getting frustrated because I believe in my mind that's a team we should be beating. I felt like we were kind of coasting, and I didn't want to let that happen. I wanted to get people pumped up.
