en We are continually seeing an increase in the number of obese patients presenting to hospitals. These patients are not necessarily surgical patients but present with a variety of medical needs and can be seen throughout a health care facility.

en There are concerns about a two-tier National Health Service with rationing for the obese, and this information must not be used to promote that in any way. Doctors must remember their Hippocratic oath, whether patients are fat or thin.

en For subjective indicators of pain, obese people indicated similar levels of pain to non-obese people. But when we looked at objective indicators, we found that the obese group had a lower threshold for pain.
